AI Myth Busting: Debunking Common Misconceptions
What is AI?
By means of Artificial intelligence, humans create , intelligent or cognitive, robots who on one hand can learn from the environment as humans do. The technology that can do smart things. When we talk about AI we usually refer to the ability of machines to play games by themselves, reason and do things that a human can, like recognizing patterns, training, and imitating, and be able to judge consciously like people.
AI- and machine learning-driven technologies are already helping in the healthcare, transport, robotics, research, education, defence, monitoring, and regulation of finances, agriculture, entertainment, retail, customer service, and plant construction. Machine learning and AI are also the ones enhancing the daily lives of the people besides the ongoing inquiries into their potential for advanced discovery both by the scientists and engineers.
How is AI used in daily life??
Most of the time, people unquestionably relate to futuristic terms such as artificial intelligence when you have the chance to read about it. But the truth is what you might as well think of is the fact that AI is a thing predominantly the technology giants while the AI doesn't have an impact on your daily life.
However, the thing that separates a modern human from his/her artificial intelligence overlords is the advanced and the availability of devices that facilitate interaction. Indeed, not only the IT people or engineers but most people constantly live in the world of artificial intelligence from the start of the day up to dawn. Below are the 10 cases that are very good examples of using AI in our everyday lives:
-
Open your phone with face ID
-
Social media
-
Send an email or message
-
Google search
-
Digital voice assistants
-
Smart home devices
-
Commuting to work
-
Banking
-
Amazon recommendations
-
Netflix
Soo, it will be hard to imagine any of our daily routines without the help of AI.
Movies like ‘Megan’, ‘I, Robot’, and ‘Avenger’ have made evil AI a popular thing in the media. Robots’ having thoughts of their own, has been an idea since the later years of the 1950s. Initially, as the archetypal villain of the writers of science fiction, the technology of AI then as a technology the adoption of which is being boosted as the fourth industrial revolution, AI has been relevant for a long time.
It is an interesting irony that one of the most influential industries in shaping our perception and expectations of new technologies, the movie business, now fears the very technology that could save it.
From Joseph Kosinski Oblivion (2013) to Nag Ashwin KALKI 2898 AD (2024) , movies have highlighted the danger of humans creating a future dystopia through our creation of advanced technologies.
Movies such as I AM MOTHER (2019) and CODED BIAS (2020) have served to cloud our collective vision of the future, tarnishing it with an image of self-aware machines taking over and attempting to subjugate or destroy humanity.
AI IS A DESTROYER OF HUMAN PRIVACY. LET'S TALK ABOUT DEEP FAKE!
What is deep Fake??
AI and machine learning power deepfake tech. This method crafts or alters videos, sounds, and pictures to show events that never happened. It often plasters existing visuals onto other footage making fake stuff look real as heck. Deep fakes have folks worried - they could spread lies, fool people, or just mess with our heads for fun. The tech's so good, it's hard to spot what's real anymore.
Some fear bad actors might use deepfakes to push fake news or muddy the waters with false info. But hey, it's not all doom and gloom - some see potential for cool entertainment too. Still, the risks have got people talking about how to handle this wild new tech. Deepfakes possess the ability to damage individual entities tremendously.
This is because deepfakes are often targeted at one individual, and/or their relations to others in hopes to create a narrative powerful enough to influence public opinion or beliefs. As long as someone's likeness and actions are recognizable, a deepfake can hurt their reputation.
Deep Fake real incident took place in Delhi. Rashmika Mandanna's deep fake video and Eemani Naveen's arrest shine a light on big problems in digital ethics, online safety, and AI misuse. Naveen, a B.Tech kid who knows digital marketing, used AI to make a fake video that blew up online. This stunt got his fan page loads more followers. Deep fakes use AI to cook up videos that look real but ain't. They can wreck someone's good name and step all over their privacy. This mess shows why folks need to wise up about tech and think hard before using fancy AI stuff. Cops are starting to crack down on these online shenanigans - just look at how Delhi Police jumped in on this one.
This is how deep fake works and destroy the privacy of others.
Although it is illustrated that AI in these flicks can see and do everything and even use robot armies in the movies , it is not true in reality. However, the humanoid robots from the Hollywood movies of our days are the result of the combination of complex computer programs. For this reason, the majority of the AI takeover myths are not possible with the current technology. We shall take being as our metaphor for the examination of these myths:
Myth 1: AI Will Totally Replace Humans
Even though AI provides a big boost to the performance of tasks, its primary responsibility is usually cooperating with people rather than the replacement of them.
Myth 2: Artificial Intelligence Is Capable of Human-like Understanding
AI functions using algorithms and data processing as opposed to thoughts and understanding..
Myth 3: AI Will Result in Superintelligent Machines
Whether or not superintelligent beings can be developed is still a matter of controversy and imagination, rather than an immediate reality.
Myth 4: AI Is Exclusively for Tech Companies
AI has other utilities than just the tech industry. It also affects finance, healthcare, and others.
Myth 5: AI Will Fix All Issues
Although AI operates well in some tasks, it is still not the end-all and one commonly needs human discretion and creativity to solve complex issues.
To put it in simple terms, AI has made big changes but it can never replace humans altogether. In fact, it is not based on human-like understanding but algorithms thereby making its potential for super intelligence unknown. While many companies are adopting AI to optimise their processes, this hype might cause them to make a mistake when dealing with AI.
